21st - 26th February
To Celebrate LGBT+ History Month this year we are inviting the team from Derby LGBT+ Centre to come and make the Artcore Cabin their own. The Cabin will be used as an open and inclusive space for sharing, discussion and events.
The LGBT+ Cabin will house collections of publications, texts and art works created over a series of workshops with community groups through a collaboration between Artcore and Derby LGBT+ Centre’s Coordinator teams.
Locations:
Derby Museum and Art Gallery 4 - 5 pm
Artcore Cabin, Osnabruck Square 5 - 6 pm
Derby Museum of Making 6 -7 pm
Beginning at Derby Museum and Art Gallery to take a look at The Hayward Touring exhibition featuring the work of French female photographer Claude Cahun (1894–1954), whose practice investigates gender and identity.
Following this we will move on to the Artcore Cabin, that will be transformed into an auction house - displaying work created by the; young peoples, women's, trans and families groups from Derby LGBT+ Centre. The groups have created these works during workshops delivered by Artcore to raise money and support for Derby LGBT+ Centre, so don't be shy!
Finally we will come together at the Museum of Making to enjoy each other's company and build strong connections across organisations and the community. Together we will explore and elaborate on the LGBT+ History Month 2022 themes of Politics in Art and invite audiences to come and explore this history with us with & have raise a glass to celebrate.
