Film Screening and Art Workshop

At Artcore, we work with Derby’s communities extensively. One of the centres we are collaborating with is the Derby Bosnia Herzegovina Community Association. We run a project there called “Untold Stories.” 

Supported by the Baring Foundation, the project focuses on working with recent immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and members of Derby’s Bosnian and South Asian communities. It explores the diverse stories and experiences that are interwoven through our community’s rich heritage.

In light of Refugee Week 2024 and in celebration of Artcore’s “Untold Stories” workshop, we invite you to a free film screening on Thursday, June 27th, at 1:00 pm at Artcore’s city centre location, 8 Albert Street, Osnabruck Square, Derby DE1 2DS. The event also includes an art workshop from 12.00 pm till 1.00 pm at Artcore Gallery. It is free and open for all.

The film, “Quo Vadis, Aida” (Where Are You Going, Aida), is set in Bosnia in July 1995. It follows Aida, a translator for the UN in the small town of Srebrenica. When the Serbian army takes over the town, her family is among the thousands of citizens seeking shelter in the UN camp. As an insider to the negotiations, Aida has access to crucial information that she needs to interpret. What is on the horizon for her family and people – rescue or death? Which move should she take?
