Holi Hai! – Exhibition Launch

Artcore would like to invite you to the launch of our upcoming exhibition, “Holi Hai!” on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 from 6.00pm onwards. I am also excited to announce that this exhibition will mark Artcore’s grand reopening after the gallery refurbishments.

Exhibition Dates: 17 May – 3 June 2023 (Tuesday – Saturday, 12.00pm – 5.00pm)
 
The exhibition will feature artworks by Nikki Culley, Huw Davies, Phil Basi and Masood Sarwer, following a two-week residency in Chhotaudepur, India, in early March 2023. The residency provided the UK and Indian artists with a unique opportunity to explore disappearing tribal culture and traditional ways of life in the tribal-rich district of Chhotaudepur, Gujarat, and document the vibrant festival of Holi through lens-based and related media. The artists visited local fairs and markets, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and learned about different traditions and rituals surrounding Holi.

The exhibition ‘Holi Hai!’ promises to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the artists’ impressions and experiences of India, as they interpret the rich cultural tapestry of the region.

We would like to express our gratitude to Arts Council England for supporting us with funding from the Capital Investment Programme, which has enabled us to complete the refurbishments.
