Announcing ‘Home Away From Home’: A Creative Community Project

Artcore is proud to launch Home Away From Home, a year-long creative programme designed to support new arrivals and people rebuilding their lives in Derby. Starting on Thursday, October 23, this project will provide free weekly art workshops in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space.

The sessions are designed to help participants overcome social isolation, build new connections within the community, and express their experiences through art. Led by professional artists from diverse backgrounds, the workshops will explore powerful themes of home, identity, belonging, and resilience using visual art, spoken word, and storytelling.

Our goal is to create a warm atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable. Refreshments and social time will be part of each session, and volunteer support with community language skills will be available to ensure the workshops are accessible to all.
