Sound and Experimental Film Workshop

We are excited to announce a unique two-day workshop experience at Artcore, exploring the areas of sound and experimental film. This workshop is open to participants aged 16 and above (under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian), and it promises an engaging blend of creativity and mindfulness.

August 15th – Day 1: Sound Exploration The first day kicks off with a listening session led by sound artist Chris Wright. Participants will craft scratch instruments and use their voices to respond to different spaces. Following this, they will venture into Derby city to record sounds, which will later be shared and used as a foundation for further creative work.

August 16th – Day 2: Moving Image/Experimental Film On the second day, participants will be introduced to a range of experimental films and moving images. Building on the sounds collected and created on the previous day, they will explore Derby to capture visuals that complement their audio work. Using various apps, they will experiment with editing and showcasing their creations. The day will culminate in a group screening of the workshop projects at Artcore.

This workshop is a fantastic opportunity for spontaneous creation and offers a mindful approach to making art. Participants will need access to a smartphone and the ability to download apps provided in advance.
