Residency Reminiscence was a moment of reflection and celebration, a gathering of voices that had shaped and been shaped by Artcore’s international residency programme since 2019. Bringing together 34 artists from the United Kingdom, India, and Germany, the exhibition showcased new and recent works across various media, including painting, sculpture, installation, film, and performance. These works represented a powerful cross-section of contemporary art practice, revealing how the experience of a residency continued to inform artistic thinking and expression long after it ended.
The curatorial selection underscored the diversity of voices, media, and methodologies that had come to define Artcore’s ethos. Although rooted in diverse cultural contexts, the artists were united by a commitment to thoughtful process and a desire to engage critically with the pressing issues of their time, whether through material experimentation, performative practice, or socially engaged work.
Residency Reminiscence honoured the residency as a space of potential, one that sat between solitude and dialogue, the studio and the world. It reminded us that residencies were not destinations, but beginnings: spaces where ideas were tested, risks were taken, and new ways of working emerged.
