The Derbyshire Windrush Exhibition honours the lasting legacy of the African Caribbean community in Derbyshire. It traces their remarkable journey from Jamaica and the wider Caribbean since the historic arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush in the UK in 1948. This exhibition celebrates and recognises the invaluable contributions of this community to both Derbyshire and the United Kingdom. It displays previously unseen historical photographs and depictions of Derbyshire’s Windrush pioneers and key figures, along with significant firsthand accounts from members of the African Caribbean community in Derbyshire.
